Candidate Profile
This position is perfectly suited for a person who is interested or has experience in social change, social impact assessment and/or program evaluation, specifically Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology. You are familiar with logic models, outcome maps and/or theory of change exercises, and are looking for exposure and networking opportunities with organizations and people in the social profit (non-profit) sector.
The ideal candidate will gain a bird’s eye view of cutting edge approaches to social impact measurement in a climate where holistic and integrated assessment of social change is increasingly valued. You will be responsible for supporting impact evaluation for a diverse portfolio of SiMPACT clients in the non-profit, public and private sectors.
Core Responsibilities
The Impact Evaluation intern’s duties will vary, but include:
- Assisting with the coordination, execution, and delivery of SROI analysis, program evaluation and related social and economic research
- Supporting the creation and improvement of data collection tools, such as surveys
- Researching and mapping out change/outcomes through primary and secondary research
- Supporting stakeholder communications and other aspects of office management
- Other tasks as assigned
Skills & Experience
- Strong skills in data analysis, including qualitative and quantitative research
- Experience with or knowledge of survey design and/or distribution
- Ability to analyze, synthesize, and format information
- Advanced capabilities in Excel (Macros, conditional formatting, functions, etc.) with working familiarity/openness to learn other data analysis tools and techniques
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Desired qualifications
- Current or recent graduate with a social sciences, business, economics, community development, public administration, or related backgrounds.
- Comfort working independently and with teams
- Displays initiative and flexibility to adapt to a start-up working culture
- Skills in econometrics a plus
Accountability
This role reports directly to the SROI team. Other consultation will occur with SiMPACT colleagues as necessary.
