Kim Trottier

Professor of Accounting

Kim Trottier is an Associate Professor at HEC Montréal who combines her professional and academic expertise to examine issues through an accounting lens. Her business insights come from her CPA as well as CA experience as a manager, financial analyst, corporate controller, auditor, and consultant in firms ranging in size from $500 million to $270 billion in assets. She has worked with enterprises in Canada and Europe, in both French and English, across all sectors – for-profit, not-for-profit, and the public sector.

With over a decade in academia, Kim has developed a rigorous analytical foundation that includes mathematical modeling, programming, econometrics, and artificial intelligence.

She has been invited to present in over 35 conferences, has published numerous papers, and is working on a textbook. Her current interests use advanced data analytics to measure and assess corporate performance, value, and disclosure. As Research Director of the Accounting and Business Analytics Lab, ABAL, she aims to pioneer new ways of harnessing the power of data.

Kim holds board positions with 460 MIC, the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, and Social Value Canada. She is also an Associate Editor for Accounting Perspectives.
